Tokoroa City Lions Projects  "We Serve"

We raise funds by managing forest access for the public, by manufacturing banners for other Lions Clubs, indeed any organisation. A variety of other printing using the Lion logo is also available.
We manage the access into the Kinleith forest for Hancocks. This reflects the concern Hancocks has for being a "good neighbour" to Tokoroa. Our management is to make sure the forest is not used as a dumping ground for the rubbish someone had on their trailer before going out to collect wood and to make sure no one gives in to the temptation to cut up the saw logs on the skid just because its easy to get at. Both of these have happened before and clearly Tokoroa needs to be an equally "good neighbour" to forest owners if this privilege is to continue. The money we make all goes back to projects or donations normally within Tokoroa. It's a win-win and we thank the public for supporting us.   Close

We have a shed in Whakaruru St that is leased from the council for a peppercorn rental and we obtain wood from a variety of sources - council, forest owners, the Plywood mill, private donations of wood from farmers' wood lots and the like.

It is cut into rings and split by our members sometimes assisted by the Corrections department.

We move the wood from outside storage where it is dried for an initial period and then into our shed to maximise the drying we can obtain during the summer period. We normally deliver in winter and have been able to make three deliveries to most of our clients each year.

The process is limited by the time our members have to do this work and their energy levels given that we are all aging too.

The club has a member who is a skilled graphic artist (Unlimited Signs, Tokoroa). He has the very latest printing equipment available and consequently we produce banners with modern high definition graphics. Our banners are made by Lions and the profits stay within the Lions movement to be used for various Lions objectives. Glasses can be etched, key rings, woodwork etc. BBQ Aprons are another line we have embroidered with the Lions Logo - the list is endless and we aim to be able to do it all. The stand-up "Lions Event Signs" display graphics customised for your club or regular event and can be altered with different graphics in the future should that become necessary. These are available provided in a vinyl bag designed to keep them looking great for years. They are printed on corflute - an extremely durable board with a layer of aluminium each side over a base board. They are weather proof and come with a plastic base that can be filled with water to resist wind.
